Θα ήταν πολύ ενδιαφέρον, και κοινωνιολογικά, να μπορεί κανείς να συγκρίνει τις διαφορές στα κείμενα και ενδεχομένως στις εικόνες σε τέτοιες εκδόσεις. Για παράδείγμα ο Nabil Fawzi (!) είναι άραγε μουσουλμάνος;

Yes Lebanon is islamic, As far as Superman's religious leanings I dont know? One of the things about the arabic books is the way the writing is like Hebrew right to left. Those comics read from back cover to front..... how interesting.... I am hoping to find a specific arabic Batman! Can you say Neal Adams 227!

Ακολουθεί post στα αγγλικά, μιας και είναι αφιερωμένο στον Define999. Those are some comics I own and happened to have them in more than one edition.

 

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

The edition on the left side is the American from Tokyopop, while the one on the right side is the Greek version. Notice how bigger the Greek one is. Tokyopop has cropped each page and also shrinked the size in order to match it with the size of the original manga format. Our edition is bigger and no-cropped. That is because the Greek publisher got the rights from Disney Italia instead of Tokyopop. However, I don't know what format was used for the original Japanese version.

 

 

Asterix

The odyssey of Asterix. The left comic is from Constantinople * while the right one is Greek. The size of the left one might be slightly bigger and the right one smaller, but the inside is intact. The Turkish edition just have more spaces in every page. Notice that we use matte paper cover, while the foreign edition uses illustration.

 

 

Wizards Of Mickey

The left edition is from the American BOOM! It has published hardcover and paperback editions of the series. However, the hardcover was used only for the first volume, the other two volumes were released only in paperback format. The Greek format is smaller because it follows the original Italian format, while BOOM! tried to bring it closer to the American standards.

 

The series was published in the monthly Mickey Mouse #296 - 298 and then it got its own magazine which continued from where the story left, Wizards of Mickey #1-8. I have only the first volume, but I don't care that much because the Greek edition contains the whole story in a significantly smaller price (4,9€ for the whole volume). Also, two more volumes have been published in Greece which unfortunately remain unpublished in US

 

 

Ultraheroes

Italian series again (as most of the modern Disney stories today). Even though it has been published in US by BOOM!, I haven't followed it and I don't own any American issue or paperback. I have though some of the original Italian comic issues. The left one is the weekly Italian version of "Mickey Mouse" and on the right is the Greek one. Most of the stories are different from each other, the only common thing is the story of Ultraheroes and of course the cover.

 

 

Berserk

One of the great manga titles that began running in our country before a few years. I have already bought the series from Dark Horse so I will not buy it again in Greek, but I bought the first volume because I wanted to see and compare it. The Greek edition uses better quality paper (notice how is seems white while the one from Dark Horse is now yellow), slightly bigger size and more affordable price (9-10€ instead of 15$ + shipping from abroad). The only big drawback is that is waaaay back in comparison with Dark Horse and as it seems it will take many years to reach to the end because of the general economic situation our country is. Until now there have been published 5 volumes I think, while Dark Horse has reached the Japanese releases in volume 36.

 

 

Conan

The American edition is from Dark Horse again "The Savage Sword of Conan", while the Greek edition is an anthology of some of the stories of the same period, the ones that Marvel published on the '70s. There have been many Conan comics in Greece from different publishers, this is one of them. There are a few more anthologies like that on Conan stories but none of them collects all of the original stories chronologically like Dark Horse. Those editions are more glamorous than the cheap paper Dark Horse uses, it serves different purpose than the archive Dark Horse targets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

* Nowadays Constantinople is most known as Instanbul and it belongs to Turkey, but in Greece we use the original name because it was used to be Greek. Constantinople means the city of Constantine, of the Byzantine Empire. Also, Istanbul is named after Greek words too. Constantinople was the largest and wealthiest European city of the Middle Ages, so whenever someone was going to go there, he was saying that he was going "Is tin polin" which means "in the town".

ΕΞΩΤΙΚΑ ΚΟΜΙΚΣ

 

Ούτε μαγευτικά , ούτε κόμικς με ξωτικά και νεράιδες, αλλά κόμικς από άλλες χώρες. Να χαρούμε την αρμονία εικόνων, γραμμάτων και λέξεων των αγαπημένων μας εκδόσεων σε μικρές χώρες, σε παράξενες γλώσσες. Κάποιοι από σας ταξιδεύετε συχνά και έχετε τέτοια κόμικς· πιθανόν πολλά. Στο τόπικ αυτό θέλουμε αντιπροσωπευτικά δείγματα. Και βέβαια εξαιρούνται κόμικς στην αγγλική, γαλλική και ιταλική γλώσσα, γιατί η αγορά βρίθει απ΄ αυτά. Άραγε κυκλοφορούν κόμικς στο Μάλι της Αφρικής ; Ποιος θα μας λύσει αυτή την απορία; Απαραίτητα θα καταχωρείται πλην του εξωφύλλου μία εσωτερική σελίδα και τα στοιχεία του εκδοτικού οίκου.

Άσχετο το εξώφυλλο, ανύπαρκτος ο Hulk, παρών ο Spider-man.

 

Δυο τραγικές ιστορίες. Έκανα 20 χρόνια να να διαβάσω στα αγγλικά για να καταλάβω τι γίνεται.

 

Αυτό κάποτε πρέπει να το ψάξω καλύτερα.

 

Starlin, Wrightson. Χαρμα ιστορία.

 

Και μια διαφήμιση για μια σειρά hARDCOVER εκδόσεων. Γνωστό όνομα ο Richard Corben.
